The back story
Hey there. Mitchell here. I wanted to take the opportunity to explain how I got into this business and paint a picture of our vision!
I absolutely love what I do and that is largely because I love people. I love to meet people, hear their stories, and create something that captures the essence of who you are, be that a wedding video, small business commercial, personal project, and more! I hope that in reading this I can provide you with a snapshot of who I am and why I do what I do.

I grew up in Arlington, Virginia and have been in and around Virginia for my entire life. I went to James Madison University where I studied Media Arts and Design and received a Bachelor of Arts in Digital Video and Cinema along with a minor in theatre. My passion for film began when I was a young boy running around with a handheld camcorder and my friends creating videos that we, at the time, found hilarious. When I realized that was something I could major in, I was ecstatic!

I began shooting weddings with a few friends during my Junior Year of College in 2016 and quickly began to book weddings via word of mouth and my facebook page in 2017. I established Mitchell Downing Media LLC. in January of 2018. Creating wedding videos has been one of the greatest blessings I have ever received. To be a part of one of the most special days of a couple's life and have the opportunity to recreate that memory as accurately and artfully as possible in a video is truly an incomparable experience.

Besides filming and editing videos, I love Jesus, love to sing and lead worship at my church, go on hikes, play basketball, and, of course, meet new people! In August of 2020, I married to the love of my life who also happens to be my second shooter!

With my best friend and teammate at my side, we have expanded from a videography service, to a videography and photography service, and are excited to continue to see what adventures this will lead to! Meet The Team
Kate Downing
Kate is a second shooter for Mitchell Downing Media who specializes in photography - and also is Mitchell's wife! Kate has always loved doing photo shoots since she was in high school and can't believe she now gets to do it at a professional level. She received a degree in English from James Madison University in 2020 and hopes to continue growing Mitchell Downing Media!
Mitchell Downing
Mitchell Downing is the founder of Mitchell Downing Media LLC. Mitchell received a Bachelor's degree in Media Arts and Design with a concentration in Digital Video and Cinema in 2017 and has had a passion for filmmaking since he was a boy. He is so grateful to work alongside his wife and sister-in-law in what he considers to be his dream job!
Hannah Burkholder
Hannah is a second shooter for Mitchell Downing Media and is an artist in all mediums. She is currently pursuing an Art degree at James Madison University. While evidently skilled with a camera, Hannah is also an incredible painter, stained glass engineer, and sculptor! Hannah is ecstatic to be able to further her artistic pursuits in photo and video!
